St Brendan the Navigator was born in Ireland. He founded the well known Clonfort Monastery and is believed to have travelled throughout Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, and Wales spreading the Word of God. He is largely known for his tales of his travels found in the medieval manuscript "Voyage of Saint Brendan" in which he and a group of monks traveled the seas, some say even to the America's.
